Project Update: Yikefu Broiler Breeders Farm Tainan, Taiwan

Project Update: Yikefu Broiler Breeders Farm Tainan, Taiwan

The Yikefu Broiler Breeders Farm in Tainan, Taiwan, implemented a major equipment upgrade as part of a broader modernisation effort aligned with Taiwan’s Net Zero and energy-efficiency objectives.

The project focused on improving environmental control, operational efficiency, and production stability, particularly under Taiwan’s warm and humid climate conditions.

Before Situation

Traditional open house concept prior to the upgrade

Prior to the upgrade, the farm faced several operational challenges, including:

  • Limited control over airflow and in-house climate conditions
  • Inconsistent ventilation performance during high-temperature periods
  • Greater exposure to heat stress and environmental variability
  • Less precise feed distribution and higher manual intervention

These factors made it difficult to maintain consistent breeder performance and bird comfort throughout the production cycle.

Big Dutchman Solution

Comprehensive upgrade to a modern house with integrated solutions

The upgrade focused on supplying and integrating modern poultry equipment systems, including

Ventilation & Climate Control

  • Tunnel ventilation system equipped with Big Dutchman fans
  • Improved airflow management for better heat and humidity control
  • More stable in-house environmental conditions during peak temperatures

Feeding & Drinking Systems

  • Automated feeding lines designed for uniform feed delivery
  • Improved feed hygiene and reduced wastage
  • Lower labour dependency through automation

Control & Management

  • Centralised control panels for improved operational oversight
  • Better monitoring and adjustment of key environmental parameters

Operational Impact (Conservative, Observational)

Automated feeding and drinking system for a healthier flock

Following the equipment upgrade, the farm observed:

  • Improved control over internal house climate
  • Better management of heat stress during hot and humid periods
  • More stable day-to-day operating conditions
  • Increased efficiency through automation and system integration

All outcomes are reported conservatively and based on operational observations, without extrapolated performance figures.

Alignment with Net Zero & Energy Efficiency Goals

Energy-efficient climate and ventilation solution

This project was implemented in alignment with Taiwan’s Net Zero and agricultural modernization initiatives, with key focus areas including:

  • Use of energy-efficient ventilation equipment
  • Optimised airflow to reduce unnecessary power consumption
  • Improved system efficiency supporting long-term sustainability

The Yikefu upgrade serves as a practical example of how modern poultry systems can support national sustainability objectives while maintaining production viability.
